History

History of the Conference

Participants from many countries including Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Columbia, India, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Slovakia, Turkey, the UK, and the U.S. have attended previous conferences.

This conference was started by the University of Houston-Clear Lake, Houston, Texas, USA, under the leadership of Dr. Paul T. Bruder. Delegates attending the first conference in May 2000 came from U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Turkey, Slovakia, Spain, and Columbia. Over twenty-five different institutions from the United States were represented at this conference. The collegial environment, the overall cost of attending the conference, as well as the quality of the conference encouraged Baskent University in Turkey to propose hosting the second international conference in Ankara, Turkey in 2002. By this time a strong group of dedicated individuals from numerous institutions had already started talking about a succession plan for the conference.

At the 2002 conference, delegates from Marshall University, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, and Medical University of Slovakia indicated interest in hosting the conference. During the conference, the delegates also determined that this conference should be help every two years and on the last day of the conference, it was announced that the 3rd, 4th, and 5th conferences would be held in Charleston, WV (2004), Bratislava, Slovakia (2006), and Milwaukee, WI (2008) respectively.  The sixth conference was hosted by Zirve University in Gaziantep, Turkey in October 2010.  In January 2013 Jaipur University in Jaipur, India hosted the seventh conference. The eighth conference was in June 2014 at Harlaxton, followed by a return to Jaipur in 2015. The January 2017 conference was at Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies in Pune, India.
